Beware of the backrooms.

A24 will move forward with the science-fiction horror film “The Backrooms” from filmmaker Kane Parsons. At 19 years old, Parsons is the youngest director in A24 history, according to a report on Variety.

Parsons gained fame on YouTube with his channel Kane Pixels, which features his short films based on The Backrooms, and animations based on Attack on Titan. His channel currently has 2.69 million subscribers.

Early reports indicate that Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange12 Years a Slave) and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) will lead the cast. Although the specific plot details are currently being kept under wraps, the series is rooted in the world established by Parsons’ anthological series, which has garnered over 190 million views to date.

Producers on the film include James Wan and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment and 21 Laps Entertainment.

Production is slated to begin this summer. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on The Backrooms.
