Warner Bros. Pictures has secured the rights to Siren Head, the viral horror creation from creature designer Trevor Henderson, according to a report on The Hollywood Reporter. The creature is a towering, decayed skeletal figure whose head is replaced by two ominous air raid sirens.
Weapons filmmaker Zach Cregger is co-writing the script with Brian Duffield, whose upcoming survival thriller Whalefall has been drawing early attention. Early reports are indicating that Duffield will direct the project.
In addition to Siren Head, Henderson has also created the creepy creatures Cartoon Cat and Long Horse.
With the recent success of Backrooms, movie studios entered into a fierce bidding war with Warner Bros. coming out on top.
In addition to directing, Cregger is attached as a producer on the film alongside Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo Entertainment, the company behind Weapons. Scott Glassgold, whose 12:01 Films is known for adapting internet-discovered properties for film, is also producing. Duffield is producing through his own production banner, Jurassic Party Productions.
