Scary Movie actresses Regina Hall and Anna Faris are both coming back as Brenda and Cindy, respectively, for the Wayans Brothers’ restart of the early millennium comedy franchise, according to a report on Deadline.
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon – three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” said Hall and Harris.
The Wayans brothers return for the first time in 18 years to write an all-new original script for the series, co-penning the Miramax production with Rick Alvarez. Longtime Wayans collaborator, Michael Tiddes is on board to direct the new film
With five films currently under its belt, the Scary Movie franchise has grossed nearly $900 million at the box office. The first film in the franchise, Scary Movie, was released on July 7, 2000, and earned $278 million on a budget of just $19 million.
