“This is walk or die.”
With the release of The Long Walk quickly approaching, horror legend Stephen King sat down with The Times of London to talk about the adaptation and his career in general.
In speaking of the upcoming film, King said that When it comes to the poor souls that can’t finish the walk, King said that they need to show what happens to them.
“If you look at these superhero movies, you’ll see … some supervillain who’s destroying whole city blocks but you never see any blood,” he says. “And man, that’s wrong. It’s almost, like, pornographic … I said, if you’re not going to show it, don’t bother. And so they made a pretty brutal movie.”
It looks as if Lionsgate took note as we see the teens taken out for not being able to do the walk.
The official synopsis of the film reads “Teens participate in a grueling high-stakes contest where they must continuously walk or be shot by a member of their military escort.”
Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Long Walk stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Josh Hamilton, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill.
The film arrives in theaters on September 12th. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on The Long Walk.
