‘Saw X’ Producer Drops Hints Concerning Next Installment

What’s next for Jigsaw?

One more entry in the classic Saw film franchise was confirmed about a month ago, but little else about the film has been divulged since. Until this week.

Oren Koules–one of the producers of Saw XI–dropped a (very small) tease about the development of the upcoming feature during an interview with SFX Magazine. “Cecilia is still alive,” Koules explained, “and Tobin and Shawnee are in a foreign country still. So that, to me, would be the natural place to take at least the next one.”

Does this mean Tobin Bell’s John Kramer, Shawnee Smith’s Amanda Young and Synnove Macody Lund’s Cecilia Pederson will all return, and the next film will be a direct sequel to Saw X? Wait and see.

Saw X–directed by Kevin Greutert from a screenplay by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger–raked in $108 million worldwide, making the next film a slam dunk. Saw XI–slated for theaters Sept. 27–does not yet have a confirmed director or screenwriter–with Stolberg recently announcing he and Goldfinger will not write the new script.

Saw X follows John Kramer as he travels to Mexico for a “risky and experimental medical procedure–hoping for a miracle cure for his cancer.” But it all turns out to be a horrible scam, so Kramer “returns to work–turning the tables on the con artists through a series of terrifying traps.”
