Mike Flanagan set to Bring Clayface to Life

by Rob Caprilozzi

It looks like one of Mike Flanagan’s wishes is set to come true.

Clayface is officially joining the new DC Universe thanks to Mike Flanagan’s pitch to DC Studios. Deadline has confirmed that Flanagan has been tapped to write the script amid his work on the upcoming Exorcist reboot.

Last year Deadline noted that Flanagan announced on the Script Apart podcast that he expressed interest in a “horror-leaning” take on the character during a recent general meeting with veteran DC producer Jon Berg, also pitching takes on such characters and properties as Scarecrow, Justice League Dark and Constantine.

The character of Clayface made his debut way back in June 1940 in Detective Comics #40. Since that time, there have been many different versions of the character portrayed by different characters within the comics. He is considered to be one of Batman’s most deadly villains.
