Fresh off directing Nosferatu, Robert Eggers will turn his attention to a 13th century werewolf flick titled Werwulf, according to a report on The Hollywood Reporter.
Eggers, who recently appeared at a recent Film at Lincoln Center Q&A session, brought up Werwulf and said “It’s a medieval werewolf movie. And it’s… it’s also the darkest thing I have ever written. By far.”
That’s saying a lot has Eggers has become known for his dark and bleak works which include The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman and most recently, Nosferatu.
In addition to directing Werwulf, Eggers co-wrote the film with Sigurjon Birgir Sigurosson (Sjon) who he worked with on The Northman.
Nosferatu, which recently arrived on streaming platforms, was released on Christmas Day, 2025. The film earned $173.4 million at the box office against an estimated budget of $50 million.
Werwulf is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Christmas Day, 2026. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on the film.
