Catherine O’Hara Passes Away at 71

Legendary actress Catherine O’Hara has sadly passed away at the age of 71. Her manager confirmed the news to TMZ earlier today.

Throughout her career O’Hara amassed many accolades including two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Genre fans love her work from films such as Beetlejuice (and its sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Monster House, and Frankenweenie.

The actress got her start on the Canadian sketch comedy series Second City Television. While there, she worked with fellow comedians John Candy, Eugene Levy, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis amongst others.

In 1990, she captured the hearts of Christmas fans everywhere with her turn as Kate McCallister in Home Alone, a role she reprised two years later in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

From 2015-2020 she would play the role of Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, a series that reunited her with longtime collaborator Eugene Levy.

In addition to those roles O’Hara appeared in a ton of popular films and series including After Hours, Heartburn, Dick Tracy, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, Speaking of Sex, and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
