‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Haunts Weekend Box Office

“Go ahead, make my millennium.”

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ruled the weekend box office as the ghost with the most tallied up a $145.4M global start. That total includes $110M from domestic as well as $35.4M from 69 international box office markets, according to a report on Deadline.

The official synopsis reads “After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her teenage daughter, Astrid, accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife.”

Directed by Tim Burton, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci.

“It was really great to come back to this world,” said Burton. “For me it was kind of going back into making stuff the way I like doing it and working with people I love.”

The film was released on September 6th and is currently in theaters.
