To promote the streaming release of Sam Raimi’s latest film, Send Help, an escape room experience was brought to WonderCon. Fans were able to make reservations for entry which helped significantly with the flow as only eight people at a time in each of the two rooms could participate. The escape room was decorated like a tropical island similar to the situation the movie protagonists had to deal with after their plane crashed. The riddles to solve and clues were inspired by scenes from the movie. Staff did let us know that having seen the movie wasn’t required to participate and that there would be some minor spoilers. The teams had 15 minutes to complete the challenge which is a long time for an experience at a convention. After completion of the challenge, there was a photo opportunity with various signs to hold to commemorate the experience. Overall, this was a well-run and enjoyable experience inside of the convention.
