Let’s dance the last dance.

The as-yet-untitled third entry in the Marvel/Sony Venom franchise has resumed shooting following the recent writers’ and actor’s strike, and this week star Tom Hardy took to social media to express his thoughts about the upcoming horror/super-hero feature. Check out his Instagram post here.

Calling the new film “the last dance” (likely confirming reports that this will be the last installment in which Hardy will reprise his Eddie Brock/Venom role), the actor said he was thankful that “we are back shooting, and I want to thank all the teams thus far on the ride.”

Hardy added that the cast and crew “have come a long way. It continues to be a lot of fun. There’s always hard turns, but it doesn’t feel as hard when you love what you do and you have great material and the support of a great team.”

Hardy also singled out director Kelly Marcel as his “writing partner and dear friend. Watching you take the helm on this one fills me with pride. It is an honor.”

The movie–helmed by Marcel from a screenplay she wrote with Hardy–is slated for a Nov. 8, 2024 theatrical release. The cast is rounded out by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Juno Temple.

The second film in the franchise–Venom: Let There Be Carnage–follows Brock’s struggles with serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) after he becomes the host for the symbiote Carnage. The movie made a killing at the box office, pulling in $500 million worldwide on a $110-million budget.
