People are strange when you’re a stranger.
The reboot of 2008’s The Strangers has grown into a trilogy, and The Strangers: Chapter 1 now has a spring 2024 debut date, according to a report on Deadline, and a very brief teaser was dropped by one of the film’s stars. Check out Madelaine Petsch’s Instagram post on this page.

The first part of the Lionsgate trilogy–directed by Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street: 4 The Dream Master) from a screenplay by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland–will hit the big screen May 17, 2024.
Joining Petsch in the reboot’s cast are Rachel Shenton, Ema Horvath, Froy Gutierrez and Gabriel Basso. Shenton will play Debbie, the sister of Petsch’s Maya character.
The first film follows Maya as she drives cross-country with her boyfriend (Gutierrez) to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. But, when their car breaks down in Oregon, they must spend the night in a secluded Airbnb, “where they are terrorized by three masked strangers.”
The original The Strangers–from writer/director Bryan Bertino–stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple dealing with a terrifying home invasion. The sleeper hit spawned the 2018 sequel The Strangers: Prey at Night.
