StudioCanal revealed at CinemaCon 2026 that rebooted versions of Escape from New York and The Howling are now in development.
There were no further details revealed, but we expect to hear something rather soon.
Directed by Joe Dante, The Howling is considered one of the greatest werewolf films of all time. It was released on March 13, 1981, and earned $20 million at the box office against a budget of $1.7 million. The film starred Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Dennis Dugan, Christopher Stone, Belinda Balaski, Kevin McCarthy, John Carradine, Slim Pickens, and Elisabeth Brooks.
Directed by John Carpenter and led by Kurt Russell Escape from New York features Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Pleasence, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean Stanton, and Adrienne Barbeau. The film arrived in theaters on July 10, 1981, and earned $50 million on a budget of $6 million.
