Rest in Peace, Reggie.
Reggie Bannister, one of the stars of the Phantasm franchise, passed away at his home in Crestline, California. He was 80.
Reggie’s wife, Gigi told TMZ that Reggie was happy to be home during his final moments and died peacefully.
Bannister was a U.S. military veteran who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he was frequently exposed to the noise of .40- and .50-caliber weapons, which ultimately contributed to hearing loss. As a result, he is a service-connected disabled veteran. In addition, he was exposed to Agent Orange, further contributing to the health effects associated with his service.
In 2016, he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
In addition to the Phantasm franchise, Bannister appeared in Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation (1990), The Demolitionist (1995), Wishmaster (1997), Bubba Ho-Tep (2002), Cemetery Gates (2004), The Mangler Reborn (2005), Last Rites (2006), The Rage (2007), The Quiet Ones (2008), Carnies (2009), Sawblade (2010), Not Another B Movie (2011), The Ghastly Love of Johnny X (2012), Bloody Bloody Bible Camp (2012), The Obsidian Curse (2016), and Bonejangles (2017).
