This doll will have to wait a bit longer.

The Blumhouse/Atomic Monster 2022 box office smash M3GAN will spawn a sequel, but fans will have to be patient with the filmmakers–as the film’s release date has been pushed back a few months.

M3GAN 2.0–from director Gerard Johnstone and screenwriter Akela Cooper–this week lost its previously announced Jan. 17, 2025 debut date, and will instead hit theaters May 16, 2025.

The sequel–produced by Jason Blum, James Wan and Ryan Turek–will bring back stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw.

The original M3GAN tells the tale of Gemma (Williams), a toy company roboticist who builds M3GAN (Model 3 Generative Android)–a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be “a child’s greatest companion–and a parent’s greatest ally.”

But, things don’t work out as planned. When Gemma gets custody of her eight-year-old orphaned niece Cady (McGraw), the android becomes increasingly more independent. And violent towards anyone who threatens Cady.
