“That’s just the girl next door. She’s very odd.”
Lisa Frankenstein–a rom-com kind of take on the iconic Mary Shelley horror story–lands on the Silver Screen in a little over a month now, and a new trailer has arrived before the big day. Check out the offbeat video on this page.
The horror-comedy–slated for theaters Feb. 9–is directed by Zelda Williams from a screenplay by Diablo Cody. The cast is led by Cole Sprouse (as the “monster”) and Kathryn Newton–along with Carla Gugino, Joe Chrest, Henry Eikenberry and Liza Soberano.
In the feature–set in 1989–an unpopular high school goth girl named Lisa Swallows (Newton) accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm. After that, the girl “starts to rebuild the corpse into the man of her dreams–using a broken tanning bed in her garage.”
After undergoing a horrifying transformation, the “monster” and girl begin “a murderous journey to find true love, happiness and a few missing body parts along the way.”
