Holt McCallany Teases Potential ‘Mindhunter’ Return

“What do we have in common? What unites us? What keeps us all awake at night?”

Holt McCallany, who starred as FBI special agent Bill Tench in Mindhunter, sat down with CBR and let them know that he recently spoke to creator David Fincher about the possibility of bringing the show back in another form.

“I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it’s just a chance,” he said. “I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”

Mindhunter ran for two seasons on Netflix (2017 and 2019) and consisted of a total of 19 episodes. The show centers on FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench, along with psychologist Wendy Carr, as they work within the Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Their groundbreaking research involves interviewing some of the most notorious imprisoned serial killers to gain insights into their minds. This innovative approach aims to develop profiles that can help catch active serial offenders and solve ongoing cases.

“I think that in terms of dates and logistics, it could all be worked out, but it has to do, you know, with David really having the time and the inclination and being happy, you know, with the material. And, you know, that’s a big question mark.”
