The end of the year was a sad time at Crystal Lake.

Horror gamers shed a tear under their blood-stained hockey masks on Tuesday night as the game servers for Friday the 13th shut down for good.

As you might recall, back in June of 2023, the official Twitter account for Friday the 13th The Game posted a message which read “The time has come. Our license for Friday the 13th will expire on December 21st 2003. On that date, Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be for sale, both physically or digitally. The game will, however, continue to function through at least December 21, 2024, if you already own it.”

The shutdown was due to licensing issues with franchise creator Victor Miller. A full version of the post made in 2023 can be seen below.

Released on May 26, 2017, Friday the 13th: The Game where players can step into the world of Friday the 13th and take on the role of Jason or a Camp Counselor. The 1v7 multiplayer game pits the masked killer against some unlucky counselors. The game also featured many different Jason skins and locations from various Friday the 13th films.
