‘Sinners’ Makes Oscar History With 16 Nominations

I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints…

The official nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced today and Sinners racked up an all-time record for nominations with 16!

The film, which was released on April 18, 2025, is up for Picture, Actor Michael B. Jordan, Supporting Actress Wunmi Mosaku, Supporting Actor Delroy Lindo, Director and Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler, Music Score, Song “I Lied To You”, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Sound , Editing, Makeup & Hair, Casting, and Visual Effects, according to a report on Deadline.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film starred Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo. It excelled at the box office taking in $368.3 million on a budget of $100 million.
