Nancy Won has signed on to The Conjuring TV series, which is currently in development at HBO Max, to serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. In addition, both Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are attached to write on the series, according to report on Variety.
The news comes a few days after the rise of the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe, The Conjuring: Last Rites, continues its massive haul at the box office. The powerful horror franchise was successful in launching spinoff films including Annabelle and The Nun. Three films about the Annabelle doll have been made: 2014’s Annabelle, its prequel Annabelle: Creation from 2017, and a sequel to both films Annabelle Comes Home from 2019. Two films featuring Valak, the demon nun, have been made: The Nun, released in 2018, and its sequel The Nun II, released in 2023.
To date, the Conjuring Universe has grossed over $2.3 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror franchise in history.
