The film–directed by Zelda Williams from a screenplay by Diablo Cody–will release Feb. 9, with a cast that includes Cole Sprouse (as the “monster”), Kathryn Newton, Carla Gugino, Joe Chrest, Henry Eikenberry and Liza Soberano.
Set in 1989, the feature follows an unpopular high school goth girl named Lisa Swallows (Newton), who accidentally re-animates a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm. Lisa then “starts to rebuild the corpse into the man of her dreams–using a broken tanning bed in her garage.”
After undergoing a frightening transformation, the “monster” and girl start “a murderous journey to find true love, happiness and a few missing body parts along the way.”
