Looks like the game will continue.

With this year’s Saw X impressing fans and moviegoers (earning $108 million worldwide), another entry in the horror franchise was almost inevitable–and Saw XI was confirmed this week by the Instagram post seen on this page.

The next Lionsgate installment–which does not yet have a director or cast confirmed (but Tobin Bell is almost a lock to reprise his John Kramer role)–will hit theaters Sept. 27, 2024.

What is known is that screenwriters Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger will not return for the next film. Stolberg tweeted that the duo is “sitting out this chapter. Very excited to see this one. I think people will be pleased with the team.”

Producer Mark Burg had previously said he believes Saw X ended where “audiences will want to know what happens next,” adding that “there are going to be a bunch of actors from the past who have already called–wanting to know if they can be in the next movie.”

Saw X–directed by Kevin Greutert from a screenplay by Stolberg and Goldfinger–follows John Kramer as he travels to Mexico for a “risky and experimental medical procedure–hoping for a miracle cure for his cancer.”

Unfortunately, that “cure” is really a terrible scam to defraud the most vulnerable. So, Kramer “returns to work–turning the tables on the con artists through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.”
