The Ghost Adventures team are bringing a host of Halloween horrors to fans this October, as they embark for the first time on a Four-Part “ghosts of the Civil War” Special (starting on October 7th at 9:00 p.m. on the Travel Channel) and they are also bringing back their traditional Halloween investigation special featuring the arrival of the world famous Annabelle doll to Zac Bagan’s Haunted Museum (which airs on October 28th at 9:00 p.m.).
According to the official press release, the four part special will feature trips to “…haunted Vicksburg, Mississippi, exploring the lasting impact the Civil War’s Siege of Vicksburg has had on the city. The team searches for paranormal evidence during lockdown investigations in McRaven Mansion, considered to be the most haunted building in the South; an antique doll museum said to contain dolls that come alive; an abandoned hospital; and the site of the Battle of Champion Hill.”
In the Halloween special, “Bagans calls on experts from previous Ghost Adventures investigations to tap into the energies within each object. In the second half of the two-part special, Bagans invites three lucky fans to the museum to further investigate the dark entities. Then, Bagans ups the fear factor with the arrival of the famously haunted doll, Annabelle, who comes with very strict rules: no physical handling, no provoking and a quart of holy water must be on standby in case of possession.”
For those unfamiliar with the “real” Annabelle doll, unlike the Conjuring films, the doll is not a creepy porcelain one, but instead a floppy Raggedy Ann doll which is confined to a glass case. It has been rumored that the original Raggedy Ann doll was not used due to legal purposes, which was further supported by The Conjuring producer Peter Safran before the release of Annabelle: Creation. Safran told USA Today in August that “For starters, you’d be hard-pressed to find a manufacturer to allow their doll to serve as a conduit to evil in a movie.”
Annabelle usually resides in the original haunted museum: Ed and Lorraine Warren’s Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. How Annabelle will make the journey across the country is anyone’s guess, but it will hopefully be revealed in the special.
