Beware of the Vamp-Friars!
Vinegar Syndrome has just announced that their first wholly produced feature, Night of the Vamp-Friars, has been written and directed by Kurtis M. Spieler.
Spieler is the filmmaker who helped bring New York Ninja back to life, re-directing the project decades after it was originally shot in 1984. Due largely to budget issues, the film was never finished and was eventually shelved, until Vinegar Syndrome acquired the original, unedited 35mm camera rolls some 35 years later.
In addition to New York Ninja, Spieler has also directed genre films such as The Dead Girl in Apartment 03, The Devil’s Well, and Sheep Skin.
Vinegar Syndrome made the official announcement for Night of the Vamp-Friars on Instagram: “Vinegar Syndrome Pictures is incredibly excited to announce our first wholly produced feature film NIGHT OF THE VAMP-FRIARS, written and directed by Vinegar Syndrome’s own Kurtis M. Spieler (Re-Director of New York Ninja). “
“Shot entirely on 16mm film, NIGHT OF THE VAMP-FRIARS is a bloody love letter to the homegrown horror films of yesteryear. We are proud to announce that it will have its world premiere as the closing night film at this year’s 13th annual Chattanooga Film Festival in June. More details to come.”
