The King of the Monsters is set to return.

The title of the new Godzilla film was revealed at the “Godzilla Day 2025” event in Tokyo, Japan. The follow up to Godzilla Minus One will be called Godzilla Minus Zero. Oscar-winning director and VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki will return to helm the film.

A video which previewed the film title, which can be seen below, played at the event.

According to a report over at The Hollywood Reporter, the new film is being positioned not just as a sequel but as a statement piece. Yamazaki and Toho are reportedly locking in a late-2026 global release window, with production ramping up in New Zealand and Norway later this year.

Godzilla Minus One held its premiere at the Shinjuku Toho Building on October 18, 2023, before opening in Japan on November 3 in celebration of the franchise’s 70th anniversary. Toho International subsequently released the film in North America on December 1st.
