Amazon apparently didn’t have an appetite for this show.
The Horror of Dolores Roach–the “eat-or-be-eaten” Prime Video series–debuted over the summer, but will not be back for a second season, according to a report on Deadline.
The eight-episode first season–based on the Gimlet podcast by Aaron Mark–starred Justina Machado in the title role–along with Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, K. Todd Freeman, Marc Maron and Jean Yoon.
In the show, “Magic Hands” Dolores Roach returns to her Washington Heights neighborhood after a 16-year stint in prison. Reuniting with her friend Luis–who gives her a place to stay–Roach opens a massage parlor in the basement of Luis’ empanada shop.
But, it’s not long before Roach is driven to “shocking extremes in order to survive.” And she and Luis become “dangerously symbiotic–and Luis must unleash his own peculiar predilections.”
