Vampire hunter–nice work if you can get it.

The upcoming reboot of the 1922 silent horror classic Nosferatu will hit theaters in about a year, and a new image of one of the film’s stars dropped this week. Check out the image–courtesy of Entertainment Weekly–on this page.

This first-look image shows Willem Dafoe as “crazy vampire hunter” Prof. Albin Eberhart Von Franz. With a name like that, let’s hope he’s good at his job.

Dafoe will be joined in the Focus Features remake–from writer/director Robert Eggers–by Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Simon McBurney and Ralph Ineson.

The horror pic–slated for the big screen Dec. 25, 2024–tells “a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted woman, Ellen (Depp), in 19th-Century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire Count Orlok (Skarsgard) who is stalking her–bringing untold horror with him.”

The original Nosferatu–adapted from the iconic Bram Stoker novel Dracula by director F.W. Murnau and screenwriter Henrik Galeen–follows Orlok (Max Schreck), a vampire who preys on the wife of his real estate agent and brings a terrifying plague to their town.
