‘Speak No Evil’ Reboot Release Bumped Back One Month

This weekend getaway will have to wait awhile.

Speak No Evil--a Blumhouse remake of the Danish film Gaesterne–this week was moved back from its previously announced summer release date, according to a report on Deadline.

The film–from writer/director James Watkins–was bumped back from its Aug. 9 debut date to Sept. 13. The feature–produced by Jason Blum along with executive producers Paul Ritchie, Christian Tafdrup, Jacob Jarek and Bea Sequeira–is based on the screenplay from Gaesterne by Christian and Mads Tafdrup.

The cast is led by James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy, Aisling Franciosi and Alix West Lefler.

The original Danish film follows two families (one Danish, one Dutch) who meet on a vacation in Tuscany. Months later, the Dutch family invites the Danish couple to join them on a weekend getaway, “but the joy of reunion is replaced by misunderstandings.”

The Dutch hospitality upsets the Danes, and they find themselves “increasingly caught in a web of their own politeness in the face of sinister behavior.”
