Smiling can be contagious.
Smile–the 2022 horror hit from Paramount Pictures–will predictably get a follow-up film this autumn, and this week, new and old cast members have signed on to the project, according to a report on The Wrap.
Kyle Gallner–who played Joel in the original movie–will reprise that role in the sequel, and Rosemarie DeWitt (2015’s Poltergeist) joins previously announced stars Naomi Scott and Lukas Gage in the cast. Parker Finn also returns as the feature’s writer/director, working with producer Temple Hill.
The sequel–slated for a theatrical release Oct. 18–has not yet revealed details on storyline, characters or production schedules.
The original Smile–helmed by Finn–follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) as she suffers through horrifying experiences she can’t explain after witnessing “a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient.” It’s then that Cotter comes face-to-face with “her troubling past in order to survive and escape from her frightening new reality.”
