Smile and the world smiles with you.
Paramount Pictures is moving ahead with its planned sequel to last year’s horror hit Smile, and this week signed its lead, according to a report on Deadline.
Naomi Scott (Aladdin) is set to star in the as-yet-untitled follow-up that’s slated to hit theaters Oct. 18, 2024. Parker Finn will again write and direct the feature, with Temple Hill producing. No plot details have yet been revealed.
The original Smile–a box office smash with $105 million in receipts domestically and almost $220 million worldwide–follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) as she suffers through frightening experiences she can’t explain after witnessing “a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient.”
And things become worse when Cotter must come face-to-face with “her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”
