A smile is just a frown turned upside down.
A sequel to Smile–the 2022 Paramount Pictures horror hit–has been greenlit, and another lead was signed this week, according to a report on Deadline.
Lukas Gage (Fargo) will join the previously announced Naomi Scott (Aladdin) as a co-star in the sequel that brings back Parker Finn as writer and director. Temple Hill is on board as producer.
The film–aiming for an Oct. 18 release date–has not yet revealed details on storyline or characters.
The original Smile–with $220 million in global box office receipts–follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) as she suffers through frightening experiences she can’t explain after witnessing “a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient.”
Things go from bad to worse when Cotter comes face-to-face with “her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”
