SDCC: ‘Predator: Badlands’ Panel

by Stephanie Shamblin Gray

In a very busy horror day with another panel for a fan-favorite franchise, Predator: Badlands offered fans in San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H a sneak peek of the film and a panel with creatives and cast.

Kevin Smith (Tusk) was moderating and said that he has seen this film and it is his favorite Predator and he has seen them all. Smith noted that director Dan Trachtenberg is now the apparent main filmmaker with Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. Fans were treated to an exclusive clip shown of Killers which included images of Danny Glover and Arnold Schwarzenegger where it was confirmed Schwarzenegger has a cameo. In Predator: Badlands, Trachtenberg noted that he was thinking about how the Predator never wins, and he wanted to explore that in a slasher-type film. Elle Fanning let us know there are no character humans in the film, she is synthetic and she gets to play two different roles. She spoke about the practical effects and she was strapped to his back as seen in the previews. Continuing discussion regarding practical effects, Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi told us he worked in a Predator suit and thought it was fun to be the Predator as protagonist. He also noted the challenge of learning the language that is used in the film.

The film is scheduled to be released November 7, 2025.
