Scott Spiegel Passes Away at 67

by Rob Caprilozzi

We have sad news to pass along today as we have learned that Scott Spiegel has passed away at the age of 67. Spiegel was best known for co-writing Evil Dead II (1987) and executive producing the Hostel franchise.

In addition to what was mentioned above, Spiegel played the role of Scotty in The Evil Dead proof of concept film, Within the Woods. As an actor he also had appearances in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Drag Me to HellSpider-Man 2The Quick and the Dead, and Darkman.

In a post, which can be seen below, Bruce Campbell took to X to say: “Scott Spiegel was a huge part of my formative years back in Michigan. From Sunday School to being stock boys together, to Evil Dead II, which Scott co-wrote, I can’t look in the rear view mirror without seeing this unique guy doing cheap gags. I’m grateful for the treasure trove of happy memories. Keep Shemping, Scott!”

The team at Horror News Network send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Spiegel.
