By now, we’ve all heard the absolute tragic news of Rob Reiner’s passing at his Los Angeles home on Sunday.

Authorities say Rob Reiner, the acclaimed actor and director, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were discovered fatally stabbed. Law enforcement officials and individuals familiar with the investigation confirmed the details.

Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was taken into custody Sunday night and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail and he’s being held on $4 million bail.

Mr. Reiner made a significant contribution to the horror genre by directing Misery in 1990. Adapted from Stephen King’s novel, Misery is a landmark psychological horror/thriller starring Kathy Bates and James Caan. The film would earn $61.3 million at the box office against a budget of $18 million. With Reiner’s direction, Kathy Bates’ would deliver an Oscar-winning performance as Annie Wilkes and became one of the genre’s most iconic villains.

Misery would be the second Stephen King adaptation that Reiner took on. Back in 1986 he helmed Stand by Me which starred Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland.

The staff at Horror News Network send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Reiner.
