Original Cast Returning For Sequel To ‘The Black Phone’

Answer the phone–the whole gang’s coming home.

The Black Phone–one of last year’s scary good horror pics–will (as expected) get a sequel, and this week news broke that most of the original cast will reprise their roles in the new film, according to a report on Deadline.

The sequel–slated to hit theaters June 27, 2025–will see Ethan Hawke return as The Grabber and Mason Thames reprise his Finney Shaw role–along with the returning Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora.

The 2022 original Blumhouse film was directed by Scott Derrickson from a screenplay he wrote with C. Robert Cargill, and that duo reportedly will write the sequel–but it’s not yet known if Derrickson will return to the director’s chair. Jason Blum will produce the new feature, along with Derrickson and Cargill.

In The Black Phone, young Finney Shaw is abducted and trapped in a soundproof basement by The Grabber, but, when a disconnected black phone starts to ring, the boy discovers he can hear the voices of the killer’s past victims. And those voices want to “make sure what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”
