‘Night Swim’ Has Little Kick Left At Box Office In Week 2

Might be time to close up the pool for winter.

Night Swim--which debuted last weekend with a $12-million take at the domestic box office–dropped off considerably this weekend, according to a report on Deadline.

The film–from writer/director Bryce McGuire–finished seventh in the stateside race this weekend (the only horror pic in the Top 10), earning just $4.7 million from 3,200 theaters over the four-day period. This brings the film to nearly $20 million in domestic earnings so far.

McGuire has already said he has plans for a Night Swim 2. “I do have an idea,” he recently said, “if there were to be a sequel. There’s lots more of the mythology.”

Night Swim--from Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and James Wan’s Atomic Monster–sees the Waller family move into a new house–and quickly discover they have “an unknown supernatural presence haunting their backyard swimming pool.”
