Leprechaun is set to return, with a new film penned by Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan in the works at Lionsgate, according to a report on Deadline. The pair previously collaborated on the screenplays for Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D.
Speaking about his entry into the world of Leprechaun, Oren Koules told Deadline, “After producing all the Saw films, and twenty-three wonderful years at Lionsgate, I’m thrilled to be working again with the Lionsgate team, Patrick and Marcus, and my son, Miles, on a terrifying new way into the rich world of Leprechaun.”
Launched in 1993, the Leprechaun franchise has produced eight films over a 25-year span, with the most recent installment arriving in 2018. The series began with writer-director Mark Jones’ original cult horror film, which introduced Warwick Davis as the murderous, wisecracking leprechaun.
