NBC to Air ‘Jaws’ 50th Anniversary Celebration Tonight

Happy Birthday Jaws! Tonight is the night that Bruce the shark rules the waters once again.

Tonight, the greatest horror film of all time, Jaws will air on NBC at 8 EST with a special introduction from Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg.

“Universal is home to the biggest movies in the world and it doesn’t get any bigger than Jaws,” Jenny Storms, Chief Marketing Officer, NBCUniversal Television & Streaming, said in a statement. “We want to celebrate 50 years of this enduring film that has captured the public imagination for generations by bringing it to audiences at home in all the ways they love to watch.”

In addition to tonight festivities, Universal Home Entertainment is releasing the Jaws 50th Anniversary Edition available on Digital and Combo Pack (4K / Blu-rayTM / Digital) as well as releasing a Home Entertainment Special Edition 4K and Digital for purchase.

Released on June 20, 1975, Jaws introduced the world to the summer blockbuster. The film took a massive bite out of the box office earning a whopping $476.5 million on a budget of only $9 million. It would go on to win Academy Awards for sound, editing and music.
