Michael B. Jordan and ‘Sinners’ Win Big at the Oscars

Sinners won 4 Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards last night.

Michael B. Jordan secured the first Academy Award of his career, winning Best Actor for portraying twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the supernatural thriller Sinners. With the win, he becomes the sixth Black performer to claim the Oscar for Best Actor.

Despite directing acclaimed films such as Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther, Ryan Coogler earned the first Oscar of his career for Best Original Screenplay for Sinners.

Autumn Durald Arkapaw won the Best Cinematography Oscar for her work on Sinners, becoming the first woman ever to win the award in the category’s history.

Rounding out the winning for Sinners was Ludwig Goransson, who took home the Oscar for Best Original Score.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film starred Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo. It excelled at the box office taking in $368.3 million on a budget of $100 million.
