Kathryn Newton Joins ‘Ready or Not’ Sequel

Kathryn Newton has joined the follow-up to the 2019 cult hit Ready or Not. The casting marks Newton’s second collaboration with the Radio Silence team after last year’s Universal horror movie Abigail, according to a report on Deadline.

Newton is known for her portrayal of Louise Brooks in the multi-Emmy-winning HBO series Big Little Lies and later starred in Freaky. Her other credits include Lisa Frankenstein, The SocietyThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Blockers.

Newtown will join the returning Samara Weaving in the film.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Ready or Not was released on August 21, 2019, and starred Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Elyse Levesque, Nicky Guadagni, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell. The film earned $57.6 million against a budget of $6 million.

The film follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
