The Addams daughter is kicking it up a notch.
Wednesday–the Netflix phenomenon based on the classic ’60s TV show The Addams Family–is heading into production on Season 2, and now star and producer Jenna Ortega is opening up a bit on what fans can expect in the next chapter.
Ortega–according to a report on Deadline–has already read some Season 2 scripts, and she says the show is “definitely leaning into a bit more horror. And it’s really exciting because all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes–and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”
In addition, Ortega mentioned there are some “really good one-liners” this time around, “and I think everything’s bigger. And it’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie–which is nice.”
The second season of the show–created by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and executive producer/director Tim Burton–is expected to start shooting in Ireland in late April.
There have been no cast confirmations at this point–aside from Ortega–but reports indicate that the new season may see additional Addams Family members, and might explore Wednesday’s relationship with her mother Morticia. Which, of course, would mean Catherine Zeta-Jones may reprise her role.
