We have sad news to pass along today as we have learned that Jeannot Szwarc, the Jaws 2 director, has passed away at the age of 85.
Actress Jane Seymour, who worked with Szwarc in Somewhere in Time, made the announcement, which can be seen at this link on her Instagram page. “Today, we say goodbye to a true visionary. Jeannot Szwarc was not just a brilliant director but a kind and generous soul. He gifted us many timeless stories, including Somewhere in Time, a film that changed my life forever. May his memory be a blessing, and may his artistry live on in our hearts.”
In addition to Jaws 2, Szwarc also directed other genre films and TV series including Bug, The Devil’s Daughter, Supernatural, and Night Gallery. Outside of the genre, Szwarc is also known for directing Supergirl, Santa Claus: The Movie, Smallville, and Grey’s Anatomy.
