What a 50th birthday this has been for Jaws. In addition to new toys, collectibles and other merchandise being released this year, 3.261 million people celebrated the films golden birthday by tuning in to watch the film as it aired on June 20th on NBC.
Now, fans will be able to experience the classic film on IMAX starting at the end of August. A trailer for the film can be seen below.
The official synopsis of the classic film reads “A giant great white shark arrives on the shores of a New England beach resort and wreaks havoc with bloody attacks on swimmers until a part-time sheriff teams up with a marine biologist and an old seafarer to hunt the monster down.”
Based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, Jaws was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. The film would earn $477.9 million at the box office on a budget of $9 million.
