IFC Films Reveals Trailer for ‘Humane’

by Rob Caprilozzi

For humanity to survive 20% of the population must volunteer to die.

Earlier today, IFC Films revealed the trailer for Caitlin Cronenberg’s debut film Humane. The trailer, which can be seen below, focuses on a family dealing with a global environmental collapse which forces world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce earth’s population.

In speaking with IndieWire, Cronenberg said “It had humor and darkness and felt timely while still essentially being a family drama,” Cronenberg said. “Michael [Sparaga] is a brilliant writer and I knew he’d be amazing to collaborate with through this process. I don’t consider it a straight horror film as it doesn’t necessarily fit into the classic definition of horror. I like to think of it as genre-bending or a ‘family thriller.’ The characters had so many levels we knew it would attract a brilliant cast, and it all just fell into place.”

The film is scheduled to debut April 26 in select theaters and will stream, three months later, on July 26 on Shudder. Keep it locked to Horror News Network for more on Humane.
