Saber Interactive revealed a new developer diary which provides more information on the denizens within the game and the horrors to come.
Horror fans will of course be familiar with the Cenobites, the infamous beings of extraordinary power from the Hellraiser films led by Pinhead. Demons to some, angels to others, the Cenobites don’t abide by easy rules of morality, instead driven to push the extreme boundaries of pain and pleasure. But while the Cenobites play a pivotal role in the story, players will have to battle against two other key factions.
The first is the Scarlet Church, a cult led by a charismatic figure named Marlowe. The Church hopes to establish contact with the Cenobites and seeks to use the mysterious Genesis Configuration puzzle box to create a debauched paradise for themselves.
The other group is the Unworthy, once-human wretches who sought after the ultimate experiences of sensation but were denied by Leviathan, ruler of the otherworldly Labyrinth. These rejects of Hell, monsters who think and behave differently from the cultists of the Church, are drawn to the Genesis Configuration as a potential path to redemption.
The official synopsis of the game reads “Play the story of Aidan, who must use the power of a mysterious puzzle box – the Genesis Configuration – to help his girlfriend Sunny’s escape from the otherworldly hellscape of the Labyrinth. Wield the powers of the box to survive your bargain with the infamous Pinhead and do battle with the horrific cult devoted to the Cenobites.”
Doug Bradley returns once again to the Hellraiser franchise to voice the iconic Pinhead.
The game is set to release on October 8th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on Hellraiser: Revival.
