While plot details for the sequel are under wraps, Johnstone tells the magazine “I had actually a different idea for the ending of M3GAN, which would’ve been interesting but probably not as satisfying. The good thing about doing a sequel is I got the chance to expand on that idea into a longer narrative. The idea James had fit really well with that. So, it was just a really good marriage of those two things.”
Directed by Gerard Johnstone, M3GAN starred Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, Jenna Davis, and Amie Donald. The film went on to earn $181 million at the box office against a budget of only $12 million.
The film is heading to theaters on June 27, 2025. Stay tuned to Horror News Network for more on M3GAN 2.0.
