Ignition Press announced today that The Beauty will be returning as a lead comic book series for their brand and will be previewed at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con which takes place July 24-27, 2025. This is a new series in addition to the original story arc that will be adapted by Ryan Murphy (AHS) as an FX/Hulu television show anticipated to debut this fall. The preview, along with exclusive merchandise for the series, is part of the Ignition Sequence: SDCC promotional initiative for the new company.
The original writers and co-creators, Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, are returning to the series and they will be joined by artist Ema Lupacchino (Blood Hunters). “I love stories having an ending. Even more than that, I love realizing that there are still more stories to tell…” said Haun about the upcoming series. The Beauty previously was published as 30 issues from 2015 to 2021 at Image Comics and it is the story of a world where an infection with a sexually transmitted disease makes people more traditionally beautiful. Prior to the new comic and television series, Ignition Press will release The Beauty Book One for Local Comic Shop Day on September 27th, 2025. The book will collect the first 11 issues and include additional stories that expand The Beauty world. The Beauty Book One will be followed by two additional volumes to collect the entire series.
Hurley stated that “the new series gives us the opportunity to explore aspects of The Beauty, the physiological changes it makes to the body, we never touched on the first time around.” Additional details about the series are still to be announced. Fans in San Diego can get a special sneak peek at The Beauty during the convention by visiting the Ignition Press Room in the Gaslamp District (643 G Street).
