Demian Bichir Cast in The Conjuring Spinoff, The Nun

With a financial juggernaut like Warner Bros. The Conjuring franchise, you’ve got to take the good with the bad. Last week brought news of a $900 million lawsuit against the studio over its successful series of films, but this week the studio is moving full steam ahead to deliver more of these ghostly films that fans crave!

Production on The Nun, a spinoff film featuring the titular ghoul from The Conjuring 2, is heating up! Corin Hardy is set to direct the film, and Variety reports that Demian Bichir (The Hateful EightAlien: Covenant) has been cast in a lead role in the film.

Bichir will be playing a priest named Father Burke. Story details are sparse at this time, but the film will be about Bichir’s character investigating the mysterious death of a nun in Rome. What could possibly go wrong!?

The first spinoff of The ConjuringAnnabelle was a financial slam dunk for Warner Bros, but it didn’t fare so well with critics. Hopefully the inclusion of this Oscar-nominated actor shows the studio is committed to financial gain and critical acclaim this time around.
