Creature From The Black Lagoon Comic Book Series Set For April

The Gill-Man stalks the four-color world.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon–the iconic Universal Monster that debuted in glorious black-and-white (and 3D) on the big screen in 1954–is getting a four-issue comic book series from Skybound Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Check out the cover and interior art on this page.

Universal Monsters: Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives!–headed to comic book shops April 24–is written by Dan Watters (Lucifer) and Ram V (Detective Comics) and illustrated by Matthew Roberts (Manifest Destiny). Dave Stewart handles the colors.

The comics are not an adaptation of the classic film, but are “a modern day-set tale of suspense, intrigue and terror that connects to the original movie.” The story follows journalist Kate Marsden as she hunts serial killer Darwin Collier in the heart of the Amazon.

During her pursuit, Marsden encounters an unexpected new threat–the Creature from the Black Lagoon–and must determine if he is friend or foe.
