Look out for those telephone poles.

At this year’s Bleak Week event hosted by the American Cinematheque, audiences had the chance to see Ari Aster’s entire slate of feature films. While discussing Hereditary after a Sunday screening, the director shared that he has developed a script connected to the film’s universe. Despite having the story written, he said there are no immediate plans to adapt it into a new project, according to a report on Gold Derby.

“I wrote a prequel to this,” Aster said. “It never feels like the right time. It’s a prequel, not a sequel so I don’t know where this goes.”

Written and directed by Aster, Heredity was released on June 8, 2018, and starred Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd, and Gabriel Byrne. The film went on to earn $90.2 million at the box office against a budget of $10 million.

Although Aster has no current plans to make the prequel, fans and industry observers hope the buzz surrounding the announcement may help pave the way for its eventual development.
